Introduction
Pacific Rim National Park Reserve is on the west coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia. Parks Canada manages three main areas: Long Beach, the Broken Group Islands, and the West Coast Trail. The park is known for rainforest, surf beaches, offshore islands, coastal weather, wildlife, and Nuu-chah-nulth cultural landscapes.
For a broader overview of the park's history and geography, see the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve Wikipedia page.
Visitors should check Parks Canada alerts, beach safety, camping information, tide conditions, and Highway 4 travel conditions before heading to the coast. Weather can change quickly, and coastal fog, storms, wind, and road work can affect plans.
Day Hikes
The Parks Canada hiking page lists Pacific Rim trails and visitor-use areas. Popular short walks and trails include Rainforest Trail, Shorepine Bog Trail, Nuu-chah-nulth Trail, South Beach Trail, Combers Beach, Schooner Cove, and other Long Beach area access points.
Long Beach
Long Beach is the most accessible and heavily visited part of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Parks Canada's Long Beach page has information about beach access, surf conditions, safety, wildlife, parking, and visitor rules. The Pacific Sands HD Beach Cam, Ocean Village Resort Webcam, Live From Long Beach Lodge Tofino, and Pacific Sands Tofino webcams are also useful for checking nearby Cox Bay, Mackenzie Beach, surf, beach, and weather conditions.
Camping
The Parks Canada camping page has current information for Pacific Rim camping. Green Point camping is the main frontcountry campground in the Long Beach Unit, and Parks Canada also lists oTENTik camping at Green Point. Backcountry overnight trips in the Broken Group Islands and on the West Coast Trail require separate planning and permits.
Broken Group Islands
Broken Group Islands are a paddling-focused part of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve in Barkley Sound. Parks Canada posts access, camping, safety, and permit information for visitors planning kayak or boat-supported trips.
West Coast Trail
The West Coast Trail is a rugged multi-day coastal hike in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. Parks Canada manages reservations, orientation requirements, seasonal operations, safety information, and trail details for this route.
Webcam Notes
The Pacific Rim webcam cards on this page include the Pacific Sands HD Beach Cam, Ocean Village Resort Webcam, and Live From Long Beach Lodge Tofino, plus DriveBC camera images from the Ucluelet-Tofino Highway junction and Kennedy Lake on Highway 4. The DriveBC cameras are road and travel-condition views near the park corridor rather than official Parks Canada beach webcams, but they are useful for checking current access conditions before visiting Long Beach, Tofino, or Ucluelet.
